one day work of 16 men is 1/12
one day work of 24 children is 1/18
1 man's one day work is 1/(12*16 )
1 child 's one day work is 1/(24*18)
one day work of 12 men and 8 children = 12*one day work of one man + 8* one day work of one child
hence one day work of 12 men and 8 children = ((12/12*16)+(8/24*18))
one solving
one day work =(35/54*8)
work done in 8 days is 8* one day work = 8*(35/54*8) = 35/54
remaining work = 1-35/54 = 19/54
the remaining work is done by 12 men and 11 children
their one day work is 12*one men's oneday work + 11 * one child's one day work
hence 12*(1/12*16) + 11*(24*18)

one day work * number of days to complete remaining work = remaining work

((1/16)+(11/24*18)) * X = 19/54

X = 4
hence the work is done in 4 days

16m*12=24c*18 m/c=9/4
total work= 16*9*12
(12*9+8*4)*8+(12*9+11*4)*x=16*9*12
x=608//152=4
