For men formula n/P = 144 gives approximate relationship between n and P where, n = number of steps per minute and P = pace length in meters. Bernard knows his pace length is 164cm. The formula applies to Bernard's walking. Calculate Bernard's walking speed in kmph.

Solution

n/P = 144 gives an approximate relationship between n and P where, n = number of steps per minute and P = pacelength in meters. Bernard knows his pacelength is 164cm.
Number of steps in one minute = 144*1.64
Distance travelled in 1 minute = 144*1.64*1.64 mtrs
Distance travelled in one hr = 144*1.64*1.64*60/1000 km = 23.24 km approx

n=236.16(steps per minute)
now to get answer in kmph it shud b
1.64*10^-3*236.16*60=23.24

and already given that 'p'is pace length which is in meters
in problem p given as 164 cm then it is 164/100=1.64
then speed=144*1.64=236.16
