Let the CP of one article = Rs. C and SP = Rs. S

21C = 18S
C = (6/7)S
C < S = Profit

Formula : SP = (100 + P% / 100) CP

S = (100 + P% / 100 ) C

S/C = (100 + P% / 100 )

7/6 = (100 + P% / 100 )

7/6 X 100 = 100 + P%

700/6 - 100 = P%

100/6 = P %

P % = 16.67

sales prize =21
profit=3/18*100=16.66
so anwser is 16.67

let cp of each item=rs1
then
cp of 18 item=rs18
sp of 18 item is rs 21
profit=sp-cp=3
profit%=(3/18)*100=16.67% ans

If cost price of M articles =cost price of N articles then
according to formula (M-N)/N*100
here M=21, N=18
(21-18)/18*100=16.67

Suppose cp= 1Rs for each article
after selling 18 we got our cost for all article now 3 are remaining.
sp of each article=21/18=1.167Rs
remaining 3=3*1.67=3.3Rs
profit=3.5/21=0.16666=16.67%.

sp/cp=21/18
subtarct 1 both the side:
sp/cp-1=21/18-1
profit=3/18=1/6
profit%=100/6=16.67%

so
