Option A 15 years
Let the ages is 3x and 5x
3x+9/5x+9=3/4
solving this we get x=3
Present age of ricky is 5x=5*3=15

on solving x=3
ricky age 5x=5*3=15 years

The simple trick is just write them in ratio format [3/5 3/4]
Calculate the diffference between 3/5 its 2 do similarily for 3/4 the difference is 1 no multiply this differences in reverese ie
1*3/1*5 and 2*3/2*4 so ratio becomes
[3/5 6/8] so johns age becomes 6 3yrs hence ( 6-3) and similarily rickys age becomes 8 3yrs hence(8-5). But actually this is happening 9yrs so we have 3yrs if we multiply 3yrs with 3 ie (+3*3) so theres need of only 3yrs multiply with the ratio [3/5] present age will get of johns 3*3=9 yrs and rickys 5*3=15yrs
