The regular longer method is framing the equations and solving those equations.

If we take the number of calls on Monday as x, the number of calls on Tuesday are
¼ x + 5/11 * ¼ x
=1/4 x + 5/44 x
= 16/ 44 x

The total number of calls on two days is 270
X + 16/44 x = 270
60/44 x = 270
Solving x we gat x as 198.
The number of calls on Monday is 198, which implies the number of calls on Tuesday is 72

72 is the answer.

The other method is assuming some value for Monday, in the given fractions, the denominators are 4 and 11, so assume a number which is multiple of 4 and 11, hence 44 is a right option for this assumption
Monday calls = 44
¼ of Monday calls = 11
5/11 of 11 = 5
Tuesday calls = 16
Total calls = 44 + 16 = 60

If total calls are 60, Tuesday calls are 16
If total calls are 270, Tuesday calls?
270/60 * 16 = 72

72 is the answer

Let the number calls came on tuesday be "x"
Let the number of calls came on monday be "y"
according to problem:
x-(y/4) = 5/11 ..............(1)
x+y =270...................)2)
by solving 1 and 2 equations
x=54.36 ...ans i.e; calls came on tuesday

let the call on monday and tuesday be m and t respectively. thn t=5/11+(1/4)m and m+t=270. then substitute the t value in m+t=270

T = (1/4)M + (5/11)
M + T = 270
M + [(1/4)M + (5/11)] = 270
M + (1/4)M + (5/11) = 270
(5/4)M = 270 - (5/11) = 2965 / 11
M = (4 / 5)(2965 / 11) = 2372/11 = 215.6363636...

T = (1/4)M + (5/11) = (1/4)(2372/11) + (5/11) = (593/11) + (5/11) = 598 / 11 = 54.363636...

54 calls came in on Tuesday

Let the number of calls on Monday be= x.

And on Tuesday [5/11(1/4x) + 1/4x]

1/4x(5/11+1) = 4x/11.

And calls on both Monday and Tuesday = 270.

x+4x/11=270.

after solving we will get x = 198.

then on Tuesday 270-198=72.
