The red lines shows the path the person took. Now we can easily construct a right angled triangle as shown in the fig.By Pythagoras rule, its root of(45^2+30^2)= 54.08

straight=15km,and right turn =45+15=60,
distance to the starting point = square root (15^2 + 60^2)=square root (3825)=61.85

assuming last 15km straight to be in similar direction with respect to the the initial straight direction.
thus he is totally 15+15=30 km away in the same direction from his initial point.
this makes the view of a triangle of base=45,edge1=30 then edge2=?
now edge2^2=edge1^2+base^2=30^2+45^2=sqrt(2925)

lets assign co-ordinates .so its starting from say(0,0). then going to the point(0,15).then to the right ay(45,15). then again straight to(45, 30). now find the distance of the points (0,0) and (45,30).its coming 54.08 km.

by right angle triangle property
(45+15)^2+15^2=(hypotnuese)^2
hypotnuese=sqrt 3825
=62.08
answer=62.08=shortest distance between the starting and finishing point

guys i used Pythagoras theorem---> 30^2+45^2=a^2.
so we get a=54.08...is this the right one??????????

Correct Answer Is 2*sqrt((15^2)+((45/2)^2))..

ans is 30...becoz 1st go north
then go east
then go north again so distance is 15+15=30
