let x be the no. of white sharpeners
and y be the no of brown sharpeners
and let cost of 1 brown sharpener be a

then we have
x+y=18
and
(a+1)*x +a*y=100
solving
x=100-18*a
hence we get ,
a=5 , x=10 (as x cannot be in fraction)
and y=8
cost of white sharpener =5+1 =6

10 white sherperners each of 6 rupees;
let der be 'a' white sharperners and 'b' brown
and let each white one be 'x' and brown 'y'
then ax+by=100(I); a+b=18(II); x-y=1(III);
solving (I) and (II) a=100-18y;
a must be integer less than 18;y must be an integer
a=10 for y=5;
therefore x=6 and b=8;

brown sharpner=8*5=40
white sharpner=10*6=60
total 100

told that white is one more than brown so w=b+1. if white is brought is brought for rs and total count is 10 total cost spend for white alone is 6(price)*10(quantity)=60. remaining 8 brown will surely one less than white so it cost rs and remaining sharpener that is 5(cost)*8(quantity)=40. 40+60=100 and 10+8=18, ans: 10 sharpener and 6rs/sharpner

18 sharpener 100 rs
white + 1 = brown
let white = 4 and brown = 5 (this assumption is done by trail and error)
now 4 * 5 white sharpeners = 20 rs and 16 * 5 = 80 rs therefore from given problem no. of white sharpeners = 5 and price of each sharpener is 4 rs

no of white sharpeners=10.
and cost rupees 6.......
so total=10*6=60 rs.
rest no of brown sharpeners=18-10=8.
this cost rs 5 per sharpeners....

we can solve it through hit and trial method
